Sp2 ?

SP2 ?

My Aunt has a Dell Dimm 4400 Pent llll running XP w/ SP1 and would like to upgrade to SP2. However, we have run an "Intel Proccessor Identification Utility" and there are some warnings.

Here are her specs from running the utility.

CPU Type - 0
CPU Family - F (Warning for SP2)
CPU Model - 1
CPU Stepping - 2
CPU Revision - 3 (Warning for SP2)

The utility says that with any of the above warnings she could have Stop Errors or Startup failures.

What say you about installing SP2?

Her processor is not a Family 15 Model 3 Stepping 3 processor. It's a Family 15 Model 1 Stepping 2 processor.

I've read the article and still confussed wif she needs to install update Critical Update 885626.

She is being offered SP2 from the "Windows Update" site.

Downloaded a patch for the BIOS and then tried to install twice. Stopped in the middle.

May try the CD in a couple of months.
