Hey all, my mum just came home from work with some new ram for me to put into my pc, but im not sure if it would work in my pc or not...
the ram she got me is:
Corsair DDR2 XMS2 .. http://www.corsairmemory.com/corsair/xms2.html <-- thats it.
The ram in my pc is (from cpu-z):

Well first thing you can do is check if they are pin compatible, which they might not be seeing as you have DDR and thats DDR2. Sorry but i doubt it will work, and if it does, defiantly not at top speed, that piece of RAM runs at 1 GHz (faster than my pc) while yours only runs at a mere 200MHz.
If they are pin compatible just stick the piece of RAM in without the 1 gig piece and power up the system, if it beeps insanely its just BIOS not accepting the RAM.

hmm, thanks for the fast reply.
she got it for free, so i guess im just gona have to sell it .. either that or keep it till i upgrade :(

Do that before you to to the extreme :D

I could get a list of all compatible ram if you gave me the model number of your machine (example: Compaq Presario 5003US, Dell Dimension 4938, ect ect ect..)

SufferWell is right, it won't work. You are using DDR in your system and the new ram is DDR2. It will not physically fit in the slot. Don't try it.
