Hello all, this is my 1st post here, so I hope I give all the information...

I need help in MANY areas, all similar to my network, wireless pci not working in my new motherboard, etc, but I figured I post here to get started in the right direction... Im wondering if I have my network set up right at all even, both computers (for the time being) have internet access, and the network does seem to work, but I have to run the network wizard on each pc anytime I reboot either of the "downstairs" computers...

Im just wondering if there is a better way to do this... Admittedly, I am not the tech type, so I am totally relying on my "illustration" to better explain how my ill network is set up...

Mind you, if the pci wireless card was working in my new motherboard (computer 2 of the illustration), id not even need to go thru any of this...

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

i have no idea what is going on in your picture! is computer 1 connecting to the upstairs router? is computer 1 using internet connection sharing to give service to the downstairs router and the router to computer 2.

I would just get a second wireless card for the Computer 2 and skip the second router...let everything connect directly to the wireless router.

computer 1 has BOTH a wireless network card which it uses to get access to the main router upstairs and an internal network card that has an ethernet cable going from it to the router downstairs. computer 1 gets its internet access from the wireless router upstairs, while computer 2 gets its internet access from the "piggy back" from the router downstairs, which, connects to computer 1, which, is getting its access from the wireless upstairs. computer X is upstairs, and not really a concern as that is connected via another ethernet cable to the wireless router upstairs which is getting its signal "direct" from the cable modem, also upstairs...

the REAL problem i am/was having is that i just replaced my motherboard, and after its installation my "real" computer, the one i use most for my work, labeled computer 2 in the image, freezes w/ my network card. i have a totally seperate thread for that issue mind you :P

this rig was a last ditch effort at getting internet access on the computer i work w/, i would not be going through this if the motherboard took to my wireless network card in the 1st place. already a month had passed, and i really needed access to my pc, my files, and the internet, all at the same time you see...

the rig, so long as it remains stable (which it DOESNT :P), is not really a problem for me, but i would still like to have it set up properly, or better if at all possible...

hence the title, my "crazy" network :)

im all ears for ideas and suggestions :)

I agree with mjc, consider getting a wireless USB adapter for computer 2 and connect directly to the router upstairs...

If I can not solve the problem w/ my wireless card not working in my motherboard and freezing my system up, a wireless usb is what Ill do, thanks :)
