Welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif!

What is the model of laptop? What OS? Also, what browser are you using? Does the problem still occur if you watch a video in Windows Media Player? Does it skip with the sound too?

G'day,

Where do you place the nb whilst you're watching DVDs? The skipping is a result of possible overheating due long period of nb operation. CPU is overloaded on processing data from DVD. Try and have a fan of some kind near the nb to circulate cool air into the nb so that your CPU cools down to function properly.

Other cases where the DVD is the fault due to the burning quality or different format that the DVD player can't recognize. In some cases it would freeze on you. It's not the codex but the player itself coz you can watch part of it. If it was the codex you would have gotten a message saying can't play, search internt for codex etc...

Hope this helped

Cheers :)
