do i need to put in a new cpu fan when i put in a cpu.
i have a 750 mhz and want upgade to 1 ghz. its a duron processor.
does the computer knows the change when i upgrade it to a 1 ghz.

Yes, you will probably need a new heatsink/fan, if for no other reason than the 1 gig chip is new (no that isn't really a good one.... http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif ), but really the 1 gig chip will probably run a little hotter so you may want a beefier cooling unit. If you are buying the chip retail the it will come with a stock cooler.

Your second question is a little harder because it is a big maybe...if your motherboard/BIOS support a 1 gig chip, they are "jumper free" in congiuration then it should automatically detect the new processor...but if you need to set the CPU specs by means of jumpers then that is what you need to do...set the jumpers before it will be recognized (need the manual for that).
