Hello:

THis issue has been pestering me for days now. A few days ago I turned my laptop on and it would not connect to my own network. It would see it there as an available network but would not connect with a signal strength of 100%. I was able to connect to networks in my own area so that took the laptop out as being a problem.

I then went to my main computer where the router was connected. I had not made any changes, removed the firewall, made sure the WEP settings were the same but still no luck. I even reset the router and tried it without any encryption (with the laptop matching those settings) and still nothing. As of right now, I can again see my network on my laptop but it will not connect.

I am guessing there is something in the router that is preventing me from getting in but after resetting the thing you owuld think that everything would work again. No luck so far. Any suggestions? Oh, it is a Netgear WGT624 but Netgear will not provide support since I found out it was a refurb router without a serial number on the bottom. Thanks Netgear.

Welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif

Where did you purchase the router? How long ago was it? You may be able to convince them to give you a new one since it was refurbished. There should be a 30 day warranty or something.

Hmmm...you might want to factor in what your time is worth trying to figure this out...if the problem is with the router...

New with support:

Or, an alternative...I have one and can vouch for their tech-support...excellent!
