It's a question of compatability with my musical interface. I'm looking to buy one off Ebay but have no idea how to determine whether or not the shipset 875p is in the computer because I can't ask the sellers specific enough questions as to how to determine that.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Welcome to The PC Guide Forums!

The best way to find any info on a HP system is go to the HP web site and search for it. From what I found yes it does have a Intel 875P chipset and it is/was a Linux workstation originally had Redhat Linux.

The HP Workstation xw4100 uses the new Intel 875P high-performance chipset and it includes Intel Performance Acceleration Technology for enhanced system performance due to reduced memory access latencies. The workstation also is optimized for Intel Hyper-Threading Technology to efficiently run multiple applications simultaneously and to speed processor-intensive tasks.
