hi all,

i have a laptop which has a realtek ethernet card and a broadcomm wireless LAN card. the networking in my department is BOTH wired-ethernet and wireless.
my problem is that i can connect to the ethernet via my LAN card. but when i try to disable the LAN and enable the wireless LAN, the following happens:

1. i get a message that the wireless network is connected with so-and-so signal strength

2. the connection status window shows the outgoing packet count increasing with time but the received packet count remains fixed at zero.

3. when i try to join our network domain while on wireless network, i get a message that the domain controller cannot be found.

what do i need to do?
pls help me out.

thanx in advance!

1. Ok
2. Does the wireless point is properly configured ?
3. Do you see the domain icon on the left side of the panel of the box and still cannot access the domain ?

What OS are you using ?
What protocols are you using ?
Before that what is your primarly network based on Novell or any other ?

If you cannot find the domain it is a DNS or network problem. If you can connect but get no traffic back and forth it sounds like an authentication problem. When you connect wirelessly go to a command prompt and type ipconfig /all. What is the IP address and DNS server for your Wireless LAN connection? It should look similar to output doing the same command when connected with a wire.
