Memory compatibility questions

You purchase memory sticks in lots and you see that each stick is different, how do you know which stick will work with which pc?

Well, go to Corsair (http://www.corsairmemory.com/corsair/configurator_search.html)'s Find the right RAM webpage and select your model number, it will give you the maximum amount of compatible RAM avalible for your system

Got a Hynix 512 stick of ram for this Hp d220 mt pc, the lable on the stick reads

512mb 1Rx8 PC2-3200U-333-12

I can't get both sides to lock in place, when I lock one side the other side pops out and vice versa sort of like a see-saw effect, this happens in both ram slots with this stick. Any ideas/fixes please?

The stick only goes in one way. If it won't fit, turn it around. If it still won't fit, check the keying on both the RAM and the slot and make sure they're the same type.
