Hi i'm new to these forums, just registered now :)

I've been having problems lately playing online games and i'm quite certain it's the firewall in my router blocking everything (it doesent block first person shooters like counter strike etc.. for some reason only real time strageties like C&C, Dawn Of War etc..)

I have a Linksys Cable/DSL router model BEF2R41 v4 (not wireless)

and I already tried port forwading, using this site as a guide http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm
and it still doesent seem to work

does anyone here know what I could do? Is there a way to disable the firewall in the router or whatever it is  lol as you can see I am a complete noob lol but always willing to learn something new

anyway thanks in advance

The only reason to open ports is if the application needs to access your machine with a packet that was not requested by your machine. I would look at a software firewall running on your machine first. Windows firewall has a list of applications that are allowed for instance.
