Hi all:
Using rebates have just bought 17" Compaq monitor, mongrel CD-Rom, Mongrel Modem, MS Keyboard, MS Mouse, Altec Lansing Speakers w/subwoofer, Maxtor 80 Gig HD, and APC UPS for about $200.
Currently running 233, 500, 800, & 1400 PC's so am in no hurry to build 5th one right away - None of these PC's are completely new as I recycled old parts as I went along - This is economical but :
I don't expect - nor do I get - max performance from mixing old and new parts and obviosly experience a greater repair frequency as well as extra work dealing with compatibility issues.
So now I have all these new parts that will stay in the box until I build my new PC - with no recycled parts
Looking for reccomendations for case, Mother board, Processor, and Ram - not a gamer so built in video ok
Mostly use for web editing, publishing and MOST Importantly, Run Some DOS programs (QA from Symantic-which is a data base management & word processor program) that is not practicle to abandon since:
a. Years of irreplacable data
b. Fast and felxible and haven't found a WIN application that I like
Any suggestions??
