Hello! I am a novice at wireless networking so if my description of my problem is perplexing I apologize.

I have a desktop computer, a laptop computer (HP Pavillion) and a TIVO connected to to the Internet (DSL) 6MPS thru a 2WIRE Modem/Router.

The problem that I have with my laptop is a RED X in my NETWORK CONNECTION icon in my toolbars. I click on the icon and it show 3 connections.

1.) Wireless Network Connectio - 2WIRE - Connected/FIREWALLED
2.) 1394 Connection - 1394 NETADAPTER - Connected/FIREWALLED
3.) Local Area Connection - A Network Cable unplugged/FIREWALLED Realtek RTL8139/810X Family Fast Ethernet NIC

Questions -- what should I do? Also, what is a 1394 Connection?

All in All everything is pretty good. My connection is 36 MPS and my strength is excellent.

Thanks ----

If you don't intend to use the wired connection. Rt Click on the icon and choose disable. If you ever want to plug in directly, Rt click on the icon and choose enable.

The laptop is wireless and I use it most of the time. Sorry for the confusion.

Every Laptop has a hard wired Ethernet connection. That is the cable that is unplugged because you are not using it. You can either look at the cable is unplugged warning or do what I say. Your choice.
