I just suddenly lost my connection on my laptop a few days ago. I just turned it on one day theres nothing. I tried using the "repair" thing, and it just told me that it failed to renew my ip address. The ip address of my lap right now is 169.251.xxx.xxx. I have read in other sources that this is the ip add if the comp cant connect to the DHCP server.

I looked into my home network using this comp and i saw that there are only two computers in the network. This and another laptop. There are only two comps on the device list... this and the other laptop. In the DHCP devices there are 3. This, the other laptop and the one that does not have a connection. There is an ip address designated to the laptop there... but when I look at my laptop.. it says differently. I even tried to manually put the ip address there.. still nothing.

I tried the cmd/ipconfig /renew and all that. It said that it cant connect to the DHCP server... request has timed out.

I have no clue what to do really. Ive been looking for answers for the past two days now, and I still do not know what to do.

I hope the things I said made sense... I am not much of a computer guy so I just put here what I see.

Have you tried rebooting the router, yet?

I have found that often, a number of network problems can be solved by rebooting everything...
