I wanted to set up my computer to join a domain at work(cabled). I had played with the network setup wizard before. I don't really know what im doing that time and I could have done something for this to happen.:D :D :D

I am currently connected to the internet through my builtin wireless.

OS is Windows Media Center.IP was automatically assigned(DHCP)

I have never used the network Id button to join a domain I just use the Change button.

However my chang button has the description
To rename this computer or join a domain, click change.

Yet from your screen shot yours doesnt have that second part so I wonder if the fact it's media center edition makes a difference. Hopefully someone else can provide more useful info.

"Can I connect a new PC running Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 to a work network or domain?
While you can access network resources on a work network or a domain, you cannot join a Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 PC to the domain. PCs running Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 are designed specifically for home use. Windows XP Professional features, specifically Domain Join and Cached Credentials (Credentials Manager for logons) are not included. As a result, you will be prompted for your logon user name and password to access network resources after you reboot or log back on to the PC. In addition, file shares or network resources that are set to require a domain-joined PC for access will not be available. Remote Desktop and Encrypting File System support are still included."

From the horses mouth...

(One more reason not to use that DRM/Content 'protection' riddled POS...the ME of XP versions.)

How can I access network if I cant join a domain?

I need to be able to access files and folders from our network and be able to print to our network printer.

You can manually map drives or printers without being a domain member. You will be prompted for the credentials of a domain account with permission to access the resource. You just won't be able to get a domain login or any of the other features of a domain with MCE.
