I'm looking for 256mb pc 133 168 pin DIMM SDRAM

I have 64 mb pc100 (original. make unknown)

plus 128mb pc 133 micron.

I've seen Buffalo advertised at £35, also AT & some others, but I can get micron at £50

also I notice that some is 8ns whereas micron is 7.5ns

are the lower priced units worth consideration?

Vic,

Would you do the conversion for lazy me and give this in US dollars?

Oops, I recently picked up a stick of 256 PC 133 of PNY (under the CompUSA brand) for $69.00 with a $20.00 Rebate = $49.00

I've been running the PNY, now 2 sticks of 256, and have and ASUS MB (known to be a very picky eater) and have had no memory problems. I don't know if CompUSA sells on the Internet...and I don't know if they would ship overseas.

Conversions: about a buck-sixty per quid. In the neighborhood of $56 & $80.

I thought PC133 standard was 7.5ns, and anything else just wasn't PC133. Am I wrong?

Some wil say that it makes no difference with cheap UNBRANDED memory. My experience has to say different. In Edinburg at the week-end they were selling branded 133 mem for £25.00 for 128MB and I think it was £39.00 for 256MB. this was at IDEAL Computing. I think it also 6ns (not to sure but almost certain) http://www.ideal-computing.co.uk/newweb/home.htm
They charge about £6.00 for delivery within the UK

Vic

try the following link http://www.computerprices.co.uk/hardware/pricebrowser.asp?categoryid=RAM

its a good site for comparing prices in the UK.. I have never had any problems with generic ram and I dont think anyone would notice the difference between 8ns and 7.5ns. Other than that try the PC shop on Nantwich Road in Crewe, they do have some good deals on ram from time to time... By the way how did the rebuilding of your website go, put a link if for me..

Hi scroatbag,

thanks for the link, those prices are good, but did you see how they're dropping !
I'll try Nantwich Road during the week, I pass there often, but never call in.
I Haven't re-done my site yet ! must get into it though, it seems just a bit daunting to start it.
Did you see the report of a virus in 1st page ? if you do a check on PC Cillon it will find it. it is I am told a non destructive trojan.
It's (as reported by some) part of the package, but I don't know what it's purpose is.

I'd have to agree with KFH about Crucial Ram. Their quality is reknowned, prices competitive, and, in the states at least, they ship for free. Are you certain you want to "cheap out" in the RAM department? Perhaps if you asked the wife and kids to miss a meal or two! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
