Is this a simple enough process? To my understanding you would need to designate a computer directly plugged to the internet for this to work properly.

Please correct me if I am wrong :D

Also, could you setup a proxy server just using Windows XP home or Pro? I went to network connection wizard but didn't see anything about setting up anything as a proxy. I figured I would ask the experts here.

You would need a server running Windows Server and Windows ISA server software. Of course this is only one way, the Windows way. There are other options using Linux and such.

What sort of proxy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_proxy) do you want?

Erik as always thank you very much.

Paul, I'm just looking to control what websites employees can access (If that is possible) If I'm using Server 2003 is there a wizard of some sort than can guide me through? I was looking around at the server management choices and didn't see anything for proxy server setup. Thanks again :D

Is that Server 2003 Standard or Small Business Server? If it is SBS premium ISA is built in, but you might need to install the option and configure.

According to MS, and most admins too, running ISA and AD on the same server is not a good idea. SBS is the exception where you get to run everything together on one box as it is all designed to work together and is not quite the same as running the seperate products.

ISA is actually a seperate product and will not be included with the basic Windows Server 2003 installation. It needs to be purchased (and licensed) seperately.

Okay thanks Erik. It's the basic edition of 2003 Server. Thanks again for the information.
