I need some advice on upgrading to a athlon new mobo. I need one that supports 168 pin sdram because most of the mobo's that I found were 184 pin ddr ram, has agp, at least 266/200 fsb, supports 1.4 thunderbird athlon cpu, 2 512 sdrams sticks, pny gforce 3 ti 200, 60 and 80 gig hdd. I could probably spend a little over $100. I would appriciate any suggestions thnx.

Hello, goober2003 here's my suggestion:

ECS K7S5A SiSŪ 735 SOCKET A MOTHERBOARD - RETAIL $54.00 (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?submit=motherboard)

It will not only support current PC133 SDRAM, but also Supports up to PC2100 DDRSDRAM-so you can upgrade later should you choose, and it supports up to 2100+ Athlon's, has onboard LAN and integrated sound ( tho i would suggest getting a true sound card )runs peachy smooth since i first built with one ( over 6+ months ) drives my Athlon XP 1700+, Geforce3 Ti200, 512 MB's of DDR PC2100 , 40 GB drive with nary a problem yet!

Did i mention how easy the setup was? I've built five (5) systems with this board so far and have had an issue with only one, which i returned to Newegg and they replaced. Since then that one works great.

Just my humble suggestion. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

And may I humbly pass along... The 1.4Ghz and the K7S5A

don't like each other. After Ver.3 ECS changed a couple

of capacitors to become XP CPU compatable creating problems

with the higher end T-birds.

Interesting observation dog as 2 of the 5 i built are using 1/1.2 T-birds and i have noticed no problems with them. Nor have their owners complained about any problems. The other 3 are Durons.

Can you elucidate on your experiance with the T-bird problem?

Actually i'm not positive that it is a t-bird i'm just guessing all I know is that it's a 1.4 athlon and I Looked up the board on the net and it got great reviews.
