Help Please?!

My friend has a wireless network using a netgear router connected to his main computer. He has a laptop and connects via some software made by netgear, but when i try to connect my laptop to his wireless network using the windows wireless network it asks for a password or passkey im not sure which, my friend reckons this is "password" but when i type it in it says it must be something like "5 ASCII Characters" im not sure.

If it is an unsecure network just press ok in the setup wizard instead of entering guesses.

If it is secure, your buddy would be the one to supply you with a password if there is one. Without it, your not going anywhere. You also need to know the type of encryption.
