I was recently given an older Dell pc. It has 1.7 celeron processor and had only 128mb ram included. I purchased a 1gig stick and my question is should i install just the 1gig stick in the 1 slot or should I install both the 1gig and the 128mb stick? The board has 2 slots total for memory. Memory is DDR-266 pc2100... Thanks for any help. :)

Both! Why short yourself?

But are you sure DDR is compatible with that old board? It may not even physically FIT into the slots.

Yes, the ddr is whats called for. I installed both sticks. Dell apparently used a couple of different processors in this model. I had seen somewhere that 1gig ram was the limit with the celeron.

The extra 128ram is recognized and seems to work fine. Thanks.
