Hello all.
I have an old enlight case..just like the one pictured on this site here: http://www.pcguide.com/ref/case/baysRails-c.html

Rails are my problem..I simply need them!!
And I just can't find any so I can't install any 5.25" drives http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif

Could anyone help me out with getting some rails? Thanks..

(this case was given to me about a year ago..without rails obviously..so..I didn't loose them :P)

Nylon zip ties or duct tape...I've used both to affix drives...not pretty, but it works. Especially the ties, they're durable and even provide a degree of shock absorption for the drives...

Well, you could always go into CompUSA, pretend to look at cases, and steal some. (or not) http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Or, if you think 2 for $3 is too much, you can pay $7 each for them http://www.pccables.com/L03105.htm

OK, let's see...according to my admittedly sketchy knowledge of math, 2@$3, minimum $10 order would fix you up with exactly 8 rails, for $12 total...8 rails would fix you up to use all four 5 1/4" bays...

How much does a new case cost??

Yeah, but all I want is to install one lousy drive...
If i hit just the $10 mark plus shipping I would be dropping $15 to install a drive. That just sucks

I guess it's back to duct tape.

Oh well..guess I'll just have to spend it. What's really frustrating is that at the job I had a year ago...there were boxes full of them (those little boxes you get when you order checks) and were pretty much useless. It's so annoying to know there are some out there that no one has use for, but if I want some I'd have to cough up a chunk of cash. Ah well..I'll stop whining about it. Thanks you all for your suggestions.

if your name implies your venue, go to the Little Shop of Hardware (http://www.littleshopofhardware.com/), in Baltimore- I'm sure the guys there could fix you up.

Hold up, hold up, HOLD UP!!!! Before you haul out the duct tape....Baltimore, right? Do you feel up to taking a little driving expedition tomorrow? Say, about 40 or 50 miles (an hour's drive - trust me, it's worth it)? In Fairfax, Virginia, there's a branch of the chain store Micro Center (in the Pan American shopping center, off I-66 near the Vienna Metro station). They sell _single_ rail sets (one pair) for about $3.95 each. I recommend you to go there, because who knows what else you might find there - it's a regular department store, and the yellow-ticket specials on returned items (many of which are unopened and ******PERFECTLY GOOD STUFF****** that the non-geeks just couldn't figure out how to use) can't be beat.

Another possibility: again, this applies if you're in Baltimore, and _if_, and only _if_, you can wait one more week to install that drive. On the weekend of the 16th - 17th, there's a computer swap meet in Chantilly, VA near Dulles Airport, in the Dulles Expo convention / trade show center. There are several vendors there that sell what you're looking for - I will recommend one vendor in particular, Austin Tech out of Sterling, VA, that does a huge business in literally all sorts of miscellaneous little computer parts - mostly cables of various kinds, but they sell fans, screws, faceplates, etc., etc. (I got my Duron 800, my motherboard, my video, my memory and my turbine fan off them). If you're not in the Washington area, wait for the next computer show in your area and look for the vendor specializing in miscellaneous PC parts; they'll have what you're looking for and won't ask you to buy a whole bunch at a time like Directron will.

Well thank you, Joe, for your long post http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif I appreciate your help. Actually..my name has nothing to do with my location http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif I'm really in Virginia Beach. Fairfax seems like a posibility..but I don't feel up to a trip anywhere..hehe. I'm looking at ebay now..seems there are a few auctions for rails amazingly...think I might get some there. There are always computer shows around here...at the pavilion, but more often at the Norfolk Scope....but don't computers shows usually cost cash just to get in?
Anyway..thanks again you all http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
