Hi,
I'm trying to set up a wireless LAN at home. My house has 4inch block walls and a concrete floor upstairs. I bought a BelkinF5D7230C but I've found the signal strength to be very weak and can't get any signal at all from downstairs. Is this becuase I bought a crappy router or am I likely to have this problem with any router because of all the concrete? Am I better off buying a different router or should I simply buy a repeater and put it in my hallway? What sort of gain/power output values should I be looking for in a router?

Thanks

Lars

You will probably need a repeater. Most of the commercial wireless routers use the same output power, it's limited by government specs. Some can be boosted a bit. You could also try better antennas then the ones that come with the radios. Repeater/AP would be the simplest option.

Hi Variable, thanks. I bought a repeater. It's OK and gives a good signal in most of the areas where I need to use it.
