hi

i have just assembled a new system
mainboard : Gigabyte MB-965GDS3 GA-965G-DS3
cpu : intel pen4 dual-core 3.4ghz 2x2 cache fsb800

when i boot and enter the bios to check the temps the cpu is already at 60 degrees and the cpu fan speed is 2200 rpm , im also getting a beep which is
a constant never ending beep !!

could it be i dont have enough power ?
the psu is 400 Watts

any suggestions ?
thanx

Is the heatsink properly seated?

Did you use thermal paste with it? Or if it came with a pre-installed thermal pad did you remove the protective plastic?

Is the fan plugged in?

heat sink is fitted ok it came with termal paste and i did remove the plastic
and fan is connected
i got 2 power connectors on the motherboard for the fan the first says cpu fan and the second is sys fan
it seems that when i connect the fan to the cpu fan power connector the temp goes up to 60 degrees , now iv tryed connecting to the sys fan and the temp is stable 35 degrees and fan is spinning at 2235rpm
its a bit strange but it has been running now for 20 mins and did not hang or switch off do u know what the correct rpm for avarage cpu fan speeds are supposed to be ?

thanx
