Hey Quinn:

Will need new mother board - CPU socket for starters

Will need new memory (well not NEED) DDR DRAM(little more expensive than PC133) or Rambus (LOT expensive than PC 133)or will lose much of P4 speed advantage as RAM will be a bottle neck

Another issue Hard drive - if you are running slower speed Hard Drive - like 5400 RPM etc - again loss of power of the P4

Then there are heat issues - more cooling for RAM & CPU

If you have any ISA cards - will have to look to tossing those - 3 reasons I am not aware of a P4 MB that supports ISA, Intel doesn't WANT to support ISA and @8.33 MHz expansion bus speed - like wise undermine power of P4

-------- Maybe better to look at upgrading what you have or build a new system with a few recycled parts from old one

I have been led to believe that you require an new Power Supply Unit can anyone confirm this (and what about the case)

If it's a socket A, you may be able to up to an Athlon XP 2gig but not necessarily. Check out your motherboard site as the answers there will be precise. That's how high my board will go but pc133 is all I can use so like said already, there's no sense in having a V-8 when you have to do the speed limit anyway. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif Currently I use an 850 Duron but may double that before long.

Burial ground of ancient man, his life no more is seen.
A journey through his time unknown, I wonder where he's been.
The shore now gone behind the hills, a forest in our sight,
Rocks and distant mountains, bathed in waves of blinding light.
Forests from a far gone time, no living man has seen,
A private prehistoric world, for you and I, a dream...

Yes, a new power supply is needed for the P4 unless the one you have has the supplemental connector...

old_kid, yes there is ONE mobo that I found that has 1 dedicated and 1 shared ISA (total of 2) for the P4...but haven't found anything important like how much it costs, yet.

sean, basically you will need to build a whole new system.....

Hi MJC:

I thought I read some where - that Chip set for P4 doesn't support ISA - think that came from a Meyers "beyond A+" supplement somewhere

But, then again - nothing's absolutely true or maybe I need new reading glasses for mine old eyes http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif
