why can't i to install the os into the sata hardisk?because,in the post the system shows that the system was detect the hardisk.before this i was installed the os in the ata hardisk,but the hardisk was damage and my motherboard was equiped with sata port,so i want to try the speed of sata (1.5Gb/s) and buy a maxtor diamondmax 80gb sata 1.when i insert the windows cd,is was ok untill there is mesage that tell me that make sure the hardisk is properly installed.why this happen?because during post the system detect the sata hardisk.i don't know the brand of the motherboard but the chipset is via p4m800 and southbridge something sound like via vt8375.can be i install the os into the sata hardisk?

Check and double check the BIOS setup to see how SATAs are configured there and whether they have been both enabled and set in the boot order. If definitely enabled then its possible you may need drivers on a floppy and press F6 during the start of the text mode part of the installation.

yes,the sata has been enabled.if posibble the driver of sata must be install first?because my other motherboard is not require to install the driver during the installation of windows

If this mobo shows the drive in the BIOS but setup cannot see the drive then you probably need the F6 drivers even though things were OK with another mobo. I would look at (download if necessary) the manual for this mobo about installing OSes onto SATA drives.
