when i installed vista it had security center in the tray but at some point it stopped showing it, it says its on under control panel and no its not hiding inactive icons so i'm not sure if its really doing anything or not
and so far no pop up has asked for a prog to access the interenet, i'd rather it ask cause some programs i dont want access, anyway to configure that
to check if the security center is running
Just try to delete a file
If it is you will know when it ask for your permission to do what you Just told it to do
"Delete" a simple file or empty the recycle bin
More Redundant B.S. from MS
As for the advanced settings in security center
I am sorry. I can't help you with that one..
I have played with it and dumped it (vi$ta) till they get at least SP1 or maybe even SP2 out
Then I will install it again and play/try it again

Open Control Panel. There is a text based search box at the top right hand corner. Type in the word "security", and it will bring up several links to check or change your security settings. Actually, when you start typing in the word, "security", you won't even have to type in the complete word and you will see the various links.

I haven't booted to vista for awhile, but I think it only shows up when it detects something is wrong. Like your virus definitions may be out of date etc.
