New computer has insomnia

I just recently bought a new HP Windo$e XP Home desktop. When I let it sit, it goes to sleep. That doesn't last very long. It wakes up every 5 minutes or so and when it does this, it resets my scanner, so it reboots.

This is happening on its own, not when someone disturbs the computer.

Settings, monitor sleeps at 15 minutes, system standby at 20.

1. Unplug your scanner and plug it in when you need to use it.
2. Tell it to stop going to sleep

Check in the BIOS setup for options " Wake on LAN", and "Wake on Ring." If they are enabled, disable them.
