I have an old 98 that I have recently brought back to life. It works fine when I have just one of my two 98 hard drives pluged in, but when they are both in a once the system will not boot proberly. I know that one has to be the master and the other the slave. However I have no cluce how to do this can some one please give me a "For Dummies Explenation".
Thank You,

Thank you, That link had some great information. I got them to work.
I was wondering if any one knew if I could plug a hard drive with 98 on it into my computer with XP. Can I put the 98 as a slave and still have windows XP running without any problem.

No problem, XP will just see the other one as a data drive, it does not matter that there is an operating system on it.
But make sure you set the BIOS HDD boot priority right, it will usually change its setting when you connect another drive. If it tries to boot from the Win98 drive it will fail.

If you begin tapping the Delete key immediately after pressing the power button you should be directed to the BIOS/Setup screen. There will be a number of areas where you can use the arrow keys to navigate and then press Enter to see what is under the specific category.
You will see an area where you can set the BIOS to look for a specific drive to boot from first, second, third, etc. On mine I prefer to have it look to the floppy drive first...not finding system files, it will then look to the HDD. You will also see the CD-ROM in the list...
Once set, select SAVE & EXIT

Then once your FDD is 1st in the drive boot menu...
Make this bootable floppy disk and boot from it to load the SBM and then choose which drive [HDD, optical drive] to boot from those listed as available.
