how do i correct or restore to my previous settings? the display looks slightly blueish

Check the monitor's connector for any bent, loose, or missing pins.
If ok, then check its controls for a default color setting.
If that does not work, then connect the monitor to a different system. If the problem persists, then it may be going bad.
If it works ok on another system, then the video card may be bad.

this is strange... as of now, the monitor is working properly. i have this program ATI Catalyst Control Center. could this possibly be related to the previous problem?

Possibly. There may be a color adjustment option in the ATI CCC.
But if the correct color returned without you adjusting anything, then the monitor may be the cause of the problem.
