currently i have a gateway gt5012 and i would like to put a 8800 video card in it but there is a problem. i have a btx case so the video cards and stuff go in upside down so they cool better and since the 8800 takes up 2 slots it will not fit. i got it at compusa and i called and they said any atx case will work and then it will fix. im really confused cuz gateway says it will overheat and not work(prob dont want me changing there crappy case thats all cramped) but then compusa says it will.so whats a good case like around 50-75$ and will it even work.

Weird. Veery Weird! (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-detailsInactive.asp?EdpNo=1741016)
A left handed pc tower?? I would assume the motherboard is specialized so I wouldn't go buying an atx case expecting it to fit. You'd better take a look carefully at the mobo and how it could possibly work, if at all.
Edit:
It appears there are several atx/btx cases available. It is possible a full sized btx case would do what you need.

What do you mean by 'it won't fit'? I wonder if a larger case will do you any good. If the video card is coming in contact with parts of your mobo, a larger case wouldn't gain you anything.
The btx cases I see available for the most part are quite expensive. Most are well over $100 to $250 or so, mostly because they are convertible atx/btx types and need frames that can be rearranged. There are some cheap junkers on eBAy that are specifically btx factor but who knows how what they'd be like if you are after a quiet, quality case
Newegg offers just 1 at this time and is over $150

the little slots in the back that pop out u prob u know what im talking about thats the prob. since the cards 2 layer and takes up 2 of them it wont fit cuz its not big enough. and since they go upside down in btx the card wont fit since its 2 layer

Where oh where to begin... *sigh*
i have a btx case so the video cards and stuff go in upside down so they cool betterThis is not true. Vid cards are currently designed to cool better in ATX. Turning them upside down does not magically make them cool better. If it did, they'd be designed that way already!
i got it at compusa and i called and they said any atx case will work and then it will fix.Whoever you talked to at CompUSA doesn't know what the #*%& they're talking about! The GeForce 8800 series by itself are insanely high powered. You need at least a 450W ATX 3.0+ PSU just to keep one afloat (along with the rest of your system) not to mention the space requirements! These are not vid cards that just "fit" anywhere! Case dimensions and PSU support must be considered with any GeForce 8800 vid card. That's why they cost so much and perform so well.
gateway says it will overheat and not workGateway is not going to support any modifications you do to their system. Once you move beyond upgrading into rebuilding, you've moved waaaaaay beyond the warranty! Basically, that GeForce 8800 is going to require so much rebuilding that Gateway's support just drops right off the map.
If you want to keep your warranty at all, you should just return that GeForce 8800 right now. It's obviously not going to ever "fit" or "work" in that system as is. No amount of talking to either Gateway or CompUSA is going to change this fact. And in reality, it wasn't a good idea for anyone to push you into buying a vid card that physically fits into only a handful of computer cases right now. Not to mention I can guarantee you that you'll need a PSU upgrade before you try to fire that thing up! Most gamers who buy that vid card build their computer around it...

If I had a 500w PSU it would be the one I AM USING!!!!
But beside's that, I'm ok with the contradiction, it's just that I need to see a man about a horse............................................. .........
Bye, I gotta go
