I'm building a new system and I want to include a sound card that will not only drive me speakers when I'm playing mp3s but also able to record my guitar and voice. I'm not looking to build a high-end studio, just the ability to record at a decent quailty level so I can mix it on the computer. Any recommendations?
thanks

Well, I know that Echo is prolly the best name in the industry for high end sound cards. My old roomate has a home studio, did the research, and bought an Echo Layla. They make a prosumer (professional/consumer) card called the Mia that runs around $200. Look here (http://music.multimedian.com/reviews/soundcards.html) for some more info, or just google "echo mia" to point you to sites with other options and reviews. You might also want to check Tom's Hardware (http://www.tomshardware.com) and see what you can find there.
