I use several different programs for the security of my computer. As a result of my tight budget, all of these programs are freeware. Now Cyber Defender has released a new internet security suite for free. I was wondering if anyone knew how good it is vs. the programs I currently have. I currently use AVG Free Anti-Virus and Free Anti-Spyware, Spyware Blaster, Windows Defender, Ad-Aware SE Personal, Spybot S&D, and Zone Labs free edition of Zone Alarm as my firewall. My OS is Windows XP SP2, and I have 512 MB of RAM with 2 GB of my hard drive allocated for virtual memory and a 2 GHz processor. Should I just leave my system as is, or should I install Cyber Defender and uninstall some of my security programs, or just install Cyber Defender on top of my other security software?

PC Mag was not very kind to that program:
Antispyware tested poorly in both removal and blocking. Spam module doesn't actually protect against spam. Antiphishing less effective than IE7 or Firefox 2 alone.

I am considering using it to complement my existing security software, but I am unsure of how it will affect my pc's performance.

I stay with what is working until something gets a lot of high recommendations, like what you are using. Les

Two things...

1. I recommend avoiding suites and putting together your own collection of security software like you already have...

2. CyberDefender is very difficult to uninstall once it is installed, worse than other security suites and it comes from very dubious roots...

So, I recommend that you give it a pass and stay with what you have... Make sure you are not running 2 programs that do the same thing in resident mode, they will clash with each other...

Thanks for your input guys. I do believe that I will not use Cyber Defender.
