I have a linksys WAP connected to a wired linksys router. My Dell notebook (internal wireless card) states I have excellent signal strengh, connected at 54Mbs, however, when I open up Internet Explorer I get the error message page cannot be displayed. I disabled WAP security and all firewalls. I can surf no problem with my iBook through this WAP but Dell cannot even though it states that I am connected to this network and I have excellent signal strength. Any suggestions?

Hey zoner62,
Getting a good signal to the router is not enough. This only indicates a radio connection and not a network connection.
I have several different type machines on a couple of different networks. I had one machine that insisted on getting it’s settings pre-defined. It would not accept automatic settings, therefore it would not access the internet or network.
You need to know what your routers settings are (IP, DNS) and then set these up on your dell accordingly. I have since gone to setting all my machines manually and using the MAC filter for security.
Let us know if you need more ;)
