....up my 2 new computers.

The computers are top notch from AVA Direct. I installed Norton Internet Security and the 2 computers could not see each other and the systems slowed to a crawl.

Deleted it and installed Macaffe Total Protection and all day we were without Internet service and the computers kept getting bumped off the internal Network and the Internet network.

Deleted Mcafee and installed Zone Alarm....It does not slow down the computers as much and the junk mail is beautiful, but when it installs I keep getting an error maessage that it cannot update. This happened on 3 machines.

Is there an Internet security program that will let me use the internet, give spyware protection and Spam protection as well. I don't need Privacy Control or IM control.

Am I better off with an Anti-Virus package and a Spam package?

Please help as this has been a waste of 3 days.

Thank you

Elliot Lazarus

You might consider these that I use:

Avira > AntiVir Personal Edition = Freeware = http://www.majorgeeks.com/download955.html

Comodo Firewall = http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com

Spybot-S&D = safer-networking.org = http://www.safer-networking.org = Be sure to use the immunize feature, and as with everything else, keep it updated.

and Ad-aware = http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=506 +

SpywareBlaster/SpywareGuard - Freeware = http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

Are you using a hardware router?

An important thing to keep in mind, regardless of which anti-virus, anti-malware, anti-spyware and firewall you use
( http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/default.mspx ) is to keep it UPDATED, just as it is important to make sure you have all windows critical and security updates +

Great input....thank you.

Interesting update. While Zone Alarm is working I do find that it is using system resources, meaning when it is going through a spam e-mail the system stutters....(mini-freeze)....orit may "stutter" when going to a new webpage....and this is starting to wear thin on me.

I would like to go with one package instead of 3or 4 and I am wondering if the Paid version of AVG Internet Security would be my best best. Would it slow down the system the same way?

It has the Spam filter (I get about 350 e-mails a day and half are spam) plus the AV etc.

Yes, the Zone Alarm is working and I am using Registry Mechanic, CCleaner Spy Sweeper etc. but they are not in the startup as I use them whenever I leave the computer for a bit.

Is the "stutter" Zone Alarms way of slowing down the computer?

Thank you
