I am having problems with my PC. Several months ago I started getting popup error messages but afte ignoring them the seemed to stop. My computer has been running slow lately and I get a blue screen where i shoud be getting a background picture. The picture shows up when I turn the PC on but then it goes to the blue screen. Recently, after a power outage, When we go online, I dont get pictures or baaners on most websites. i spoke with some one who uses this site and told me to ask if I may be a candidate for "hijackthis".

Welcome to the PC Guide forums!

I moved this to Applications & Security forum.

Yes,
Post a log using HiJackThis v1.99.1
Download it here:
http://www.merijn.org/programs.php#hijackthis

Make a new folder on the HDD, unzip the HJT into the new folder you created, then run the executable to Scan and Create a log.

Post the log here in its entirety, if needed it is ok to copy portions in multiple posts. Wait for the experts to advise removal steps before trying to fix anything.

First thing... When you get warnings, it is not a good idea to ignore them... You have a number of infections on your computer... We need to see if this particular infection is present, so please run this:

Please download SmitfraudFix (http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip) (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
