Hi All...
Does any one here have an AMD 64 bit cpu with Win XP Pro x64 up and running?
If so, then I believe that you could be helpful by posting your hardware components/model numbers of your system. That would be very helpful to guys like me who are trying to build a 64bit PC.
I have been reading all these horror stories about the lack of hardware drivers. There are, however, some people that have built a satisfactory system using certain components. So....post your system components (be specific) and garner the "Bragging Rights" of having been a 64 bit pioneer...cool.
Basically, you are looking for systems/hardware that is known to work in 64-bit XP and presumably Vista, too?
If so, give it a couple of days and I'm sure that you'll get some good tips/ideas...
I'm not sure if this should be moved to the hardware section or kept here in the OS section, so if it moves, don't get upset...it hasn't been deleted.

No...not Vista 64 bit....I want to do an XP Pro x64 system build.
So it would be a great help if the folks here would post any of the components that they have found to work with that OS (hard drives, dvd burners, digital cameras, printers, video cards, NIC cards, etc.).
I will probably go to Vista 64 bit in the future, but I've already started out with an Asus A8N5X and an AMD64 3200 cpu...sooo...any of the components that you know to work xp pro x64 would sure make my experiment go smoother....
I have searched for the so-called "HCL" or "Hardware Compatibility List" to no avail.
Thanks All!
Modern hard drives and DVD burners should have no problems with any version of Windows (other than size limits on some versions)...they don't care about what 'bit' the OS is.
Video cards...both Ati and nVidia have pretty solid 64-bit drivers these days, so again, any 'modern' card should cut it (there are probably some specific cards that would get better ratings, but I'll leave that for others).
NICs, printers, etc you'd probably better off sticking to the majors in the field.
Cameras, if you don't really want to use the manufacturer supplied software, then it shouldn't matter, as the OS basically just sees them as storage devices. Most of the camera problems are with the 'software'...
