I'm fairly new to this board but I've noticed that when, like today, I logged in almost all the forums had a new post indicator. The problem is that once you enter one and then return to the main page all the forum indicators are extinguished.
This is a problem for those of us who don't have time to log in every day since we (I) can't remember what threads and where I was involved in.
Would it be possible to only have the actual forum bulb dim after that forum is visited so that the others are active when returning to the main openinhg page? Thanks.

I use my browser's Back button, and the new post indicators are still there. Maybe you could try that instead of logging onto the site again. If you click the down arrow beside the back button you'll see a list of previous sites. The one that says PC Guide Discussion Forums - powere or some such, is the link back to the main page.
Works for me...

I also use my back button (Netscape) and the drop down "back" command. I didn't mean to confuse you I don't re-logon each time. I just tested again now. When I logged in almost all the major forums had the indicator of new entries lit. I read your reply and immediately hit the back button. All the indicators were extinguished.
The other problem is that all the folders (burnt orange) if that's the color of new posts immediately turn to yellow also. And finally in other boards you can go back to the previous screen from a post or reply such as this and research something and use the forward button to proceed to your half completed writings. In this forum (MB) you lose all the entry and have to start over. I had already learned this the hard way so before I went back to check I copied to the clipboard my first para here and as expected I couldn't go forward to where I left off, the window was closed.
Can it be Netscape or something more basic. Who knows. Thanks for looking into it. Griffin

The "light bulbs" are part of the cookie code that checks to see when you last logged on, and so on. I don't really understand that part of the code too much, unfortunately. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif I suppose if there is a lot of demand I could figure it out and make a change...

Griffin: Could be Netscape. I'm using IE 5 and it works perfect. To take a look at a post I can't already scroll down and read I open a new window, and look at it there, then the typing I've already done stays put. You should be able to do the same in Netscape, but I'm not sure since I've never allowed it to come within 35 feet of my computer, and don't know how it works.
Using the back button on the browser doesn't log onto the page again, so the "light bulbs" and colored folders, (mine are purple) are still there.
If you have IE on the machine too, you might try it and see if it makes a difference.

Thanks, Pete. I'll try it on my other machine with IE and Netscape. I only use ie for Win98 updates.
You should be able to do the same in Netscape, but I'm not sure since I've never allowed it to come within 35 feet of my computer,
I wouldn't let ie within 36 feet of my machine if I didn't have to.
If you had everything...Where would you put it? Why I'd put it in Microsoft stock of course.
