Hello,

Firstly, This is my first post so I hope I'm in the right forum.

I'm having a problem with converting an AVI file (a video I downloaded from the internet) to DVD. I have spent countless hours trying to figure this out. I have successfully burnt it onto a DVD but it wouldn't play in my home DVD player, nor on my computer unless I played it through PowerDVD6. I originally used VSO ConvertXtoDVD software to convert and burn.
Then I talked to my buddy who said he uses VLC Media Player, Cyberlinks PowerDVD 6 and Nero to convert edit and burn AVI files or WMV files to DVD's that are playable on home DVD players.
I don't know how to do it. Could anyone tell me how to turn an AVI file into a DVD file that would be able to be burned onto a DVD and played on my home DVD player?
Thanks for your time,

Vadim

you just need burning software that supports dvd-video discs. i believe the new nero does, and i've used roxio as well. try reading up at www.afterdawn.com

You could try DVDSanta or TMPEnc. I just picked up a version of DVDSanta and it's working quite nice. Of course, it takes atleast 2:30 hours to encode even the smallest AVI file, but maybe your computer encodes faster than mine.
