I love these forums. They're great. Although I don't post that often, I check them frequently. But ... (the expected "but")
The topics are tending to all blend together. This is a common problem on any forum, as people aren't the careful about posting in the appropriate forum. If you check the forums daily or more often, this doesn't seem like a real big deal, but for people who check less often or looking through forums for a information or answers on a specific question, it makes the forums more difficult to use when you see a whole bunch of threads not related to the forum topic.
IMO, the best forums are those where the moderators are hard-nosed about keeping topics in the proper forums. UBB own forums are a good example - those guys are ruthless. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif I do admin on a UBB forum myself and we frequently have to move threads between forums. What we usually do is leave the thread in the original forum for a while with a message that it's been moved to X forum. That we way we avoid the e-mails from folks asking what happened to their posts. Periodically, we delete the closed threads. It's a bit of work, but it keeps the forums nice and orderly. Otherwise, especially with forums like these, all the forums start looking alike and you might as well have only one forum. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
Something to think about maybe.
