I moved my Compaq from my eMeat case to its old Compaq case, mixed it with its old Compaq PSU, and now no beeps or anything, it doesnt seem to be oxidation... already pulled the ram about 10 times... it just turns on and there isnt any responce from the monitor, and there isnt any beeps either, even when the RAM is removed... all of it. What to do?

could we get the spects of the pc please
my asumption is that there probably is a misconnection somewhere
is the computer actually turning on like the fans go but just no screen?
is there a graphics card or is it integrated into the motherboard?

I have both, a graphics card, and an onboard video.. I took it to TCR and they said it is toast, they shot in the processor and got no responce from it when they turned it on, IE it didnt heat up at all... Could be a PSU problem, but i doubt it...

Compaq 5003US System Specs:
Pentium III @ 933 MHz
320MB RAM
3d Labs Permedia 2 PCI or Intel 810e Onboard Graphics
250Watt PSU
2x optical drives
2x hard drives

try bootin up the system with only the motherboard, ram, cpu connected to the power supply and hook up your monitor to the onboard video

1. Connect only...
a. PSU, mobo, CPU+heatsink+fan, internal speaker.
[No RAM, no video card, no on-switch, no keyboard, no mouse etc.]
b. Short the pins on the mobo for the on-switch [the switch may be faulty].
c. The mobo should tell the PSU to go to full power...
d. The POST should run, and test, and warn [with beeps] that the 1st RAM test has failed...
That tells you that the POST is working.
e. Connect 1 stick of RAM to the 1st slot and the RAM warning beeps should cease.

2.
a. If [with condition 1a] the PC is dead, no signs of life...
And you are prepared to take a risk...
You could connect the green and any black wire on the supply to the mobo.
That would artificially force the PSU to go to full power-up, which could cause damage to the mobo if there's a short.
b. If the hardware powers up, but the POST doesn't run, then there's something wrong with the mobo "or something on it".
Could be the CMOS settings; reset the defaults.
Look for faulty/blown capacitors.

Syl, what do ya mean?
This thing sure seems DEAD, and i mean it... Im willing to do anything to get it up and running though.

See Powering an ATX PSU without a Mobo! (http://www.virtual-hideout.net/guides/atx_psu_mods/index.shtml)

Now, I'm no super-expert on this...
But my understanding is, that...
The mobo [especially the CPU] when being supplied with minimal voltage & current from the PSU...
Tells the PSU to go to full power...
And it's the green and black wires going between the PSU and the mobo that do it.
If the mobo is faulty and isn't telling the PSU to go full-power, then the mobo/PC looks dead.

When you short the green and black wires...
This artificially tells the PSU to power-up.
If this works, then you know there is a fault on the mobo.
It isn't doing the job of outputting the power-up signal.
But you can overcome this by fitting the little switch between the green & black wires, and using this to send the signal by using the switch to short across those wires.

When a mobo is running with only the PSU, mobo, CPU+heatsink+fan, internal speaker...
And still seems dead...
And if you cannot find the fault [whatever it is] in the CPU or mobo...
[even the shop failed to find the cause of this]
The above is all that's left [that I know of] that can be tried.
