I have a Dell laptop, 2.2 GHz processor, 512 RAM (56? dedicated), 2.4 GHz Linksys wireless card.
I occassionally got to NBC.com to watch a missed episode of My Name is Earl. I always do it from a Wi-Fi hot spot, and I've never had trouble before. Every now and then reply might pause/stutter for a second or two, but it's never been bad enough to annoy me. Now, reasons I can't determine, playback stammers so badly I can't tell what's going on.
According to my software, I'm connecting at around 48 Mbs, the signal strength is 40% or greater, and the signal quailty it 40% orgreater.
I ran Norton Antivirus 2007 to look for adware, etc. that might slow the computer down, and I defragmented even though it said I didn't need to. Neither action found anything unusual or helped at all.
Any idea what might be going on? I'm baffled.
