View Full Version : Installing Software
I've got one harddrive two partitions, do I need to install software on both partitions, or can I use it on both partitions and just install it on one.
Software MS Office.
OS Xp Pro.
You install it on one partition only...as long as you are only using one OS.
I've got XP Pro on both partitions.
Is there any particular reason why you are running two partitions, each with an OS on?
Usually, dividing a drive up is to put the OS on one partition and store data on the other...that way the data is still there if you need to reinstall the OS.
But if you are running two copies of the OS, then yes you need to install the software twice...once in each OS.
Windows can handle 26 drive letters...that translates into something like 21 partitions if you have two optical drives (drives A and B are reserved for floppy drives) and C is usually the system drive/partition.
Ok thanks for that.

I thought if I had more than one partition it needed an OS on each.
I don't know how to run two partitions with one OS installed.
