If you have seen or heard about the recent security patch for WMP and are considering installation, condier this....

*Digital Rights Management (Security). You agree that in order to protect the integrity of content and software protected by digital rights management ("Secure Content"), Microsoft may provide security related updates to the OS Components that will be automatically downloaded onto your computer. These security related updates may disable your ability to copy and/or play Secure Content and use other software on your computer. If we provide such a security update, we will use reasonable efforts to post notices on a web site explaining the update.

IF THE APPLICABLE OS PRODUCT WAS LICENSED TO YOU BY MICROSOFT


Direct quote from the EULA for said patch...italics mine.

I really like the part..."use other software on your computer." Surely it won't disable any M$ software, so that must mean another vendor's stuff, right?

Yet more reasons not to use that bloated POS software coming from Redmond. I've made sure that all file types are associated with other programs of my choosing so that it never even has a chance of starting up.

mjc: After reading all that info you sent, my friend wants me to get rid of the 7.1 version and go back to the (i believe he had) 7.0! Can i use system restore and will that get rid of it and go back like it was? Please let me know, i do have a restore point made up for emergency's
