I own a Sony CPD G400 monitor since about the year 2000. The monitor has a significant number of operating hours, about 20,000, but cosmetically is in a like new condition. The monitor worked very well for all these years, when about four months ago I noticed that the usual black background, typical of the case when a screen saver like the Windows Marquee Display with a black background is running, first turned to a dark blue color, and then got progressively lighter. One morning, soon after a cold start, I saw a small flash on the screen, and then no image was displayed after the event. As I recall, there was one instance before when I noted a slight flickering on the monitor that quickly disappeared. I verified that the problem related to no image on the monitor was not related to the computer by substituting the monitor.
The monitor, unplugged from the computer, clearly displays the usual control panel, thus it appears that the tube is working properly.
If someone has knowledge of this type of monitor, I would like to ask what the problem could be with it, and if the monitor can be repaired at a reasonable price. Perhaps, it could be logical to suggest to discard the monitor all together, but as I mentioned above, it is cosmetically in a like new condition even if it has worked for several years.
Thanks for your help.
