Backing up to CD- RW

I was sold an expensive CD RW drive and told it was the greatest way to backup. Everytime I attempt it says I do not have this authority. I am attempting to backup my hd using windows 2000 tools. Can I really backup to a CD?

If Win2000 backup is ANYthing like all of the backup programs I've ever seen, it will ask you "What drive to back up to"....you should choose the CD writer drive with a "formatted" cd in the drive[done through the sofware that came with the cd writer]......remember, you can only put 650 mb or so on a cd disk though.
