I have some real dumb questions about home theater systems - note, I have no idea about home theaters.
I have a PC with no speakers, and I'm planning to buy some good ones. Someone told me to consider buying home theater speakers instead of the normal PC speakers. After some googling, I'm puzzled about a few things -
If I buy a home theater speaker set (5 speakers + 1 subwoofer), does it usually come with a receiver? If not, is receiver a must if I want to hook the speakers to my PC (and NOT to a TV + DVD player)? I always see home theater speakers in the context of TV + DVD player combo, but I'd like to know what it means to a desktop PC.
I'd also like to know some decent brands for my budget of $150-$200. Below are some systems I considered, please comment on these apart from your other suggestions -
