Sorry if this isn't the right forum but it seems logiccal to post it here. I know about NewEgg and ZipZoomfly, but what other online vendors do you trust? I know about Tiger Direct and many people have had good experiences but I have read a number of hooror stories as well. So, who have you found to be reputable?

Newegg is the best. eBay's also good, but make sure you read the whole description of the product and make sure it is what you want, working, compatible with your hardware/software, etc.

It used to be common practice here to use a combination of steps.

First, is PriceWatch.com . Find a product you're after and review their reputation through Ressellerratings.com . I have had good luck with this and use them still, but rarely.

Another 'vendor' (service) I've incorporated into use as of (not so) late is a managed conglomeration such as Amazon.com . I am fully satisfied with all transactions there as of yet and hope it remains that way. I have bought books, gps units, other hardware and electronics items through them, used and new, and I have yet to complain about one iota of their service. The very purpose in their existence seems to be customer satisfaction and good relationships between the two.

I still go to specific sites such as Radio Shack, Staples, Office Depot, etc, depending on who is in your immediate area for certain product items, usually to see what is available and then searching a store locater, but that is rare these days (though I just did it with RS today). I was looking for a specific item and wanted to check availability and if my local store had one in stock. That's besides being in a hurry for the product :o .

NewEgg is fine, I've used them, but not exclusively as some here seem to use them religiously. I have never built a system exclusively with their products but I have come close.

eBay is a risk (though I've never been burned yet), as well as any other vendor or private sale establishments. Do your research and buyer beware. FWIW, and contrary to many here, I have more positives with TigerDirect than I do negatives. But it is close. JFYI, I rarely even look into their offers these days.

Amazon is the Newegg of books for me. Unless it is something I need right now I get all my books there. Like Newegg you just can't beat their prices and service. I like to browse my local book stores, but I would much rather pay $35 at Amazon for the same book at Barnes & Noble for $50-$60.

But I have never seen much in the computer department at Amazon that interest me.
