hi all, baring in mind im pretty noobie at this,we have a real problem.my husbands pc is running a 7300 (le i think)the computer has no problems running that, but he tried installing the 7800gt and the monitor does not show any display except no input, weve tried changing to a 500watt psu,the monitor is a vga but we used the convertor that came with the card to change the cards dvi to analog,no luck(the old 7300 card had a vga and a dvi we used the dvi convertor on the old card to check if it was the monitor but it worked ok)its just the 7800 it only has dvi output and we cannot get a signal on the monitor,we cant even get into the bios to change any thing
the specs of the computer are
duel core 3.4
250 hhd sata
1 gig memory
asus pcie motherboard(not too sure of model no)
windows xp prof
any help would be appreciated i think weve tried everything, but you always miss the obvious
thanks ste & ann

The troubleshooting you've done sure is pointing to a problem with the card. Are you able to try it in another computer? Can you have the supplier test it for you?

The only thing you may have missed is, did you plug in the 6pin PCIe power cable to the video card? Your new power supply should have at least one.

If not the card should have come with an adapter.

Plugged into this on the card.

I doubt that is it because it will usually still boot, but give you a warning that the PCIe power connector is not attached and the certain features of the card are being disable because of this. I know this because I have forgotten to plug in the power to the card before. :D But you never know it may just not work without it.
If that isn't it, I agree it sounds like it was DOA. If it doesn't work in another computer, or you don't have another computer to test it in I would return it for a replacement.

Hehe...I thought there was a connector on these... Not having installed one before, I scoured over the motherboard image looking for a "perpendicular" set of pins...

Another thing to try is to reset the motherboard CMOS using the jumper, or pulling the battery out for a couple of hours. But I agree with the others, it does sound like a faulty card.

Well good luck. Are you going for a replacement or you just going to return it and stick with the 7300?
Whyzman, just so there is no confusion, I missed the picture of the connector on the card itself I meant to put in there.
