Hi.
I downloaded knoppix a few months ago and tried it on my pc. everything was fine. well, one day i had a pc where windows couldnot boot correctly coz of BSOD giving unmountable_boot_device. so i gave a try to this linux live cd. but to my surprise the linux never loaded as it was showing a lot errors. thought it was my dvd which screwed up.

wanted to know whether knoppix works out if the files system or master boot record of windows has been corrupted?

thanks.

There is something else wrong. The hard drive and windows has nothing to do with Knoppix. It will look for and try to mount any hard drive in the system, but if it has problems it will ignore it.

Could be your DVD drive, but it could also be anything else.

Since it ran fine before you can rule out a bad download or burn of Knoppix if this is the same DVD you used before.

I would start by testing the ram with Memtest.
