Hello just wondering ,while going through my bios I noticed that my power fan speed was the only thing in red. It´s running at app. 1406 rpm , it is a 400w colorsit . I have Asus ac probe running . It displays cpu and motherboard temperatures , but not power . The motherboard is an Asus a8v deluxe .
Is it worth losing sleep over?

Probably not a problem. If the PSU fan is a 120mm then that's about where it should be at full speed. And PSU may speed it up or slows it down according to the temp of the PSU.

Thanks jlreich
I think it´s an 80mm fan , I will check today . I´m not sure if it is up to the job . I´m running a 3200+, 2 HD´s ,a floppy drive ,2 dvd drives ,2gig ram , sound card ,graphics card, tv capture card, 120 mm arctic cooler fan , bay fan, and twin hard drive fan . all this on 400w supply . I imagine the 120mm fan would be a lot quieter as well ?

Yeah it would say you could use a more powerful PSU for your system. And yes a single 120mm fan would be quieter.
It's probably not overheating though. Hold your hand over the back of the PSU where the air is blowing out. It should feel warm, warmer than the air coming out of the rear case fan, but not hot.

It was an 80mm cheapy ,14 euro job . Nasty shopkeeper . I handpicked every part except the psu . Ok I have two more questions ,
1: what size would you recommend based on what I´m running. 420 , 450 or 500 .
2: The Fan ,position wise , am I looking at another case , or just mod this one to suit.?
regards.

A 500W quality PSU should do it. 550W for some more headroom.
I have an Antec TPII 550W running a s939 4400+ X2 (OC'ed), 3 hard drives, 2x1GB ram, 7900GS, 2 DVD drives, card reader, tv tuner, and 2x120mm fans.
am I looking at another case , or just mod this one to suit.?
That depends on if the case is easily modified and if you are up to doing it. One thing though, if the case just has poor airflow there isn't all that much you can do about it in my opinion. You can add a fan here and there, and it will help. But a big part of good airflow inside a case is the interior layout.
But then there is always a way. Have a look at the solution one the regulars around here came up with. Haha! :D Pics are on post #9. Mini-Me's cooling system. (http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?t=42931)

Well ,that´s a nice mod ,simple effective and cheap. I love it .
I live in Seville , summer here is 40 c plus , so I usually have the case open in summer with the fan on , but strappig it on like Mini-Me's that is classy .That dust filter sounds good as I have to clean mine out quite often.
If you recomend a 500 I´ll go with it, as I won´t be overclocking or adding any more components, maybe one more fan only.
I´m going to go to the shop, and have a look at the setup for the fan to see how much work the mod is , I´m not sure what´s worse, modding my case or swapping all components to a new one.
Thanks for the help.

I´m not sure what´s worse, modding my case or swapping all components to a new one.
I understand. I just went through he same thing for pretty much the same reason. I had my main system in a cheap case with poor airflow for some time. I had added a hole in the side for an extra fan, but it just didn't improve things much.
I finally got around to buying a good case but when it got here I wasn't looking forward to swapping everything into the new case at all. But the next day I went ahead and did it. Now my system is much happier. :D Just in time since it's about to get warm were I live and my computer room is the hottest room in the house.

Hi just a follow up,
I have just replaced psu fan for 500w 120mm, nice and quiet. No need to mod as it just bolts straight in, also has sata cable (might be my next mission) only modding was to drill about fifty holes in the side panel for extra 120mm fan. I’ll do the case swap one day.
I’m just glad there are helpful people and sites like this.
