well one of my friends has a really bad dell and salvaged a processor from another dell. he put it in and surprise surprise it didnt work. he told me that when he put the old processor back in the compy starts up but is says somthing along the lines of select boot drive. im wondering what does he have to do to fix that

Its means you have to choose from which drive your pc should boot i.e, from the hard drive, cd rom drive, floppy drive etc... In order to get this done, you should enter BIOS and configure it to which ever drive you wish. if you already have windows in your hard drive installed your can choose boot from hard disk as the first option. and if you are installing windows you should choose boot from cd.
